Lincoln Continental

This model has been chosen by many royal families for its comfort and reliability as an official car: For example, the Norwegian royal family (notably the wedding of Crown Prince Haakon and his bride Mette-Marit in 2001), and the Jordanian royal family (wedding of Prince Hamzah and Princess Noor in 2004). The 1961 Lincoln Continental also numbers among its privileged users a long list of presidents, most famously President Kennedy. Only one car a day was produced, which was carefully checked. And once a week one car was taken out to be subjected to a rigorous inspection from top to bottom. The quality control department only employed women for this work, as contemporary research indicated that women were more meticulous than men in tasks of this kind. One noteworthy feature is that the passenger doors are front-opening, because they are hinged at the rear, so that they open in the opposite direction to the normal one. When opened by a professional chauffeur, getting in and out of the vehicle is much more comfortable for the passengers.
